Excursion to Wollerton Old Hall Garden and Wombourne Wodehouse

Our excursion begins at Wollerton Old Hall Garden, near Market Drayton.  The garden was developed over a lifetime by Leslie and John Jenkins, to compliment their beautiful Elizabethan House, and has been included in a list of the 12 most beautiful small gardens in England.  It is regularly featured in a list of the top 20. Even if you are not an ardent gardener this delightful space is warmly recommended.

Morning coffee will be served at the Garden Tea Room when we arrive and we will have our lunch here as well.  Lunch is a homemade soup with a ham or cheese roll and tea or coffee, with the cost for both morning drinks and our lunch included in the overall excursion price.

After lunch, around 1:30 pm, we will depart by coach for Wombourne Wodehouse. We arrive at about 2:30 pm for a tour of this beautiful Grade II Listed private house and garden. The owners, Mr. and Mrs. Phillips, will guide us around their home and garden.  Tea and cake will be provided at the end of our tour, with all costs included in the overall excursion price.

We are advised that this will be the last time Wombourne Wodehouse will be open to view with the current owners, and we are pleased to have this unique opportunity to offer our members a chance to see this extraordinarily historic and beautiful estate.  Please look at the Wodehouse Wikipedia site for more information on our venue – especially of interest to those with an interest in the history of music in England.

The total excursion price – for all travel, entrance fees and  meals - is  £43 per person. Space on this excursion is limited to 30 persons.   Click here for Booking Form  and to view detailed travel arrangements.  Early booking is advised.
